Austral-Canadian folk-pop trio Belle Miners formed while touring Australia as a duo and opening solo act. For the first 4 years of their career, the band existed only on Australian soil, coming together from far-flung corners of the globe only to tour the sunburnt Country. One member is based in Broome, WA (Jaime Jackett), one on Vancouver Island (Felicia Harding) and one in a remote fire-tower in Northern Alberta (Marina Avros). Drawing on two long-term musical relationships (Jackett/Harding and Harding/Avros) the band has thrived despite the seemingly impossible distance, touring 6 countries in Europe, Canada and Australia in 2018.
Their debut album 'Powerful Owl' was released in November 2017 to much acclaim with the album premiering on The Music.com.au with the AU Review writing, “Powerful Owl... an album we’ve come across in recent weeks and have been struck by ... “Night Flight” is already a winner in our eyes”, and interviews on ABC Radio National with Marc Fennell, 3AW with Billy Pinnell on Billy's Buskers, and PBS 'What the Folk' with Susi Lanagan. East of 8th, Nashville, called the album ''Festive folk pop at it's finest''
The band are grateful to have completed their 2020 'Parachute Tour' which included appearances at Cygnet Folk Festival and Nannup Music Festival, and took the band through Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia. New music was recorded and is pending release.
